Viewing design: view design; 3-D simulation against fabric background; play design like video player (fwd/bkwd etc); also tools for viewing grid, zoom and scaling. Needles are displayed in the acutal colours chosen. Embedded objects can be viewed.

Information management: ability to select colours from fixed palettes and invent new colours; keep production notes; calculate thread consumption and machine time

Machine functions: ability to insert and change machine functions within design such as stop, frame-out, low speed, borer and sequin; also 'small stitch' clean-up
